Exactly What We Were Looking For

I bought this Maytag to replace my 30 year old Maytag refrigerator. I didn't want an ice maker to deal with and this new Maytag comes without an ice maker, which is hard to find in a side-by-side. It has extra room in the freezer. The dimensions made it easy to fit in our kitchen. Having read the reviews before purchasing, I was concerned that several people stated it was loud. Before leveling the new Maytag, we could hear a loud metal vibration. After leveling it, the vibration is completely gone. All we hear is the hum of the compressor which is not loud. In fact, the new Maytag is quieter than the 30 year old Maytag. We are pleased with our purchase so far. It has ample room. It does a good job with the temps, but we do have it set to the next setting after "ideal", which is perfect for us. It looks great and the doors were perfectly aligned from the factory. I could only dream of getting 30 years out of a new one. It seems none of the new appliances these days, regardless of manufacturer, last as long as they did years ago.

An upgrade from my old side by side unit for sure.

This is a nice side by side unit. Due to overhead space restrictions, I could not get a bottom freezer unit, but without the in-door water and ice maker there is enough space on the freezer side. My one recommendation is that a deli drawer should be included, not just the two produce bins at the bottom on the fridge side. There was plenty space to add in an Amazon purchased deli drawer. The unit rolls quite nicely out so cleaning will be easy behind it. However, it seals well enough that it pulls out sometimes when you're opening either side without holding the appliance in place with the other hand. I do like the gray sides, it looks less overwhelming in my small kitchen that the black sides on my old refrigerator. I would definitely recommend this unit for anyone with overhead space restrictions.

A bad Buy!

I purchased this refrigerator from Lowe™€™s in 2022. It is not finger print resistant and marks stay there forever even if you tried to clean it. Moreover, very recent it started to release water whenever the temperature outside is above 90 Degrees F. It is very disappointing. The rest is fine.

Cheap, cold, and not that bad.

It is pretty loud. I hope we get used to the white noise, just a constant hummmmmmmmm when it is running in our otherwise quite house. I would like to have threaded foot pads in front of the wheels so the fridge stays put. There are threaded holes in place already, just no feet. I wish I had taken the ones off of our old dead fridge! Otherwise, no complaints. It is cold, and deep, so it seems to hold as much stuff as our cabinet depth 48" model.

Not repairable after just 5 1/2 years and $1800+

Update: After chat with customer service they offered a whopping 20% discount on a new purchase from their website. This box was manufactured during the COVID Pandemic and was obviously defective in the sealed system. Maytag no longer stands behind their products. The brand's good reputation is gone. No escalation of case, no review just a stone wall. This Maytag product it's dead in 5 1/2 years after spending more than $1800 total on the purchase and service contract . The sealed compressor system developed a leak or blockage after just 51/2 years of very light use and is not repairable. At two years the control board failed and I had to buy a $500 service contract to diagnose it and have it repaired. It's obviously a manufacturing defect. But Whirlpool/Maytag does not stand behind a product that should have lasted longer. It replaced a 25+ year old Amana that never had a service call.

I absolutely love ™™¥ï¸ this refrigerator there is lots of room in the fridge and plenty of shelf space and shelves in the door of the fridge to hold everything. The freezer also has a lot of shelf space and room in the door for food . This refrigerator keeps everything just the perfect temperature. I have put some magnets pictures on the door of grandchildren and not a single fingerprint is anywhere in sight ! I could not ask for a more beautiful and efficient refrigerator and freezer ! I do not need an ice maker because my favorite ice is Sonic ice which I buy and put in three gallon size freezer bags . If you don™€™t need an ice maker then buy this model refrigerator™€¦it is perfect . I have had mine for about a year and I have no problems or complaints . ™™¥ï¸

Pease don't buy this refrigerator. As soon as you get out of warranty or return time, it starts leaking water from the bottom on the floor. On the inside floor of the freezer water gathers and freezes, so you have to get that out every week ( I bust it up with a hammer, lightly, lol) or it will just leak worse. Tons of videos on YouTube about it. I still have concrete floors because I don't want my refrigerator to ruin new floors. Stay away from this one.

This fridge is designed to fail just as soon as the warranty expires. Just around 1.5 years it started to give us problems. It would have problems staying cold and now it doesn't even freeze ice. I called their customer support to see if they could help in any way, NO! I gave them an opportunity to make things right, but all Whirlpool cares about is their money. I could understand if it was like 8 years later, but just after a year is pathetic.

Bought 2 weeks ago. A couple of comments: -The light in the refrigerator is in the back. Need one up front so I can see the items clearly (like my old one). -The shelves in the refrigerator do not go to the back wall. I know this is for air flow, but items keep falling in the crack. Need some sort of retainer. - Temperatures vary by quite a bit as observed when first opening the doors. -The no fingerprint SS works well! -My old Maytag had 3 bins in the refrigerator and one additional shelf. I was used to that. -The 25 CUFT volume is great ! Bought at a decent sale price from Local Home Depot.

i was initially happy. however, my fridge broke down less than 4 years. i travel alot that i barely open/close or use my fridge. it is literarly empty and new since the day i bought it. out of the blue when i am on business trip overseas, my fridge is completely dead. the Maytag warranty covers the parts, however, the service fee is the same cost as to buy a new fridge. this is bad. Maytag is not durable. they should advertise what consumer would expect... 3-4 years life duration. otherwise this is concealing the quality truth from consumer to make the right decision. almost...false advertisement for its quality

Broke less than 4 years. Not worth it!

Less than 4 years and already broken. My fridge never full at the most only 50% space ever used. On avg, only 20% of space. So, the fridge not working hard to have been broken in such short time. Called Maytag, diagnostic cost is $169 just for them to come n check on the issue. The diagnostic came back that there's a freon leakage that's why it's not cold on both fridge n freezer. The good news is the parts still under warranty. The bad news, the labor is not. The total for the labor should we move forward with the replacement is $1122. The $169 will then be deducted from the total. I bought the fridge only $1100 + tax. I might as well buy a new fridge than repairing it. Not worth it! Please look elsewhere, don't get Maytag. Not worth it!

I recently bought your Maytag side by side refrigerator model #mss235n4mkz no water features as I did not wasn™€™t mold buildup problem in the water dispenser or the cost of the filters. I purchased it from Costco who delivered it, set it up and removed my old one. As this is a basic model I don™€™t have readily readable temperature assess, it keeps things very cold and seems to run a lot. Though the Manuel explains this is common in energy efficient appliances. It seems to be noisier than I expected.

I™€™m not sure what took so long to get this refrigerator- two months from the time I ordered. Maybe because I did NOT want an ice maker. Anyway, I™€™m still getting use to the side-by-side. Just had over a week so still figuring out how to organize for best placement. Love the freezer. Everything is so much easier to get to. I was concerned about other reviews with the motor noise but I have not experienced that yet. I bought this for the ease of the freezer. Not on the bottom. Had that style and knew I didn™€™t want another like that. Overall, very pleased and worth the two month wait.

Do NOT buy - Bad Design: The water dispenser outlet extends beyond water catch tray - I assume to accommodate large glasses, pitchers, sport bottles. After filing up glass with water the water outlet will continue to drip continuously on floor creating a pool of water.

Totally delighted so far™€"about a month. The unit is elegantly simple in its exterior design and inside is spacious and maintains temperatures nicely. It does EXACTLY what a refrigerator/freezer should do. I am delighted that it does not shine my shoes, play news or music, connect to the internet and suggest dinner recipes, etc. etc. all of which are gadgets that can (and often do) break down Even more delightful is the fact that without water and ice dispensers incorporated, it doesn™€™t have an ™€œice maker™€ which constantly freezes up and has to be defrosted every two weeks by hand to make it work and need to be ™€œrepaired™€ over and over again. It also doesn™€™t somewhat irregularly deposit puddles of water on the floor. And without those ™€œconvenient™€ add-ons, it cost more than $1000 less than my ™€œtop of the line™€ previous refrigerator that almost doubled in price with repairs over its short life. ™€"-Oh, and this was the only brand that I found which guaranteed the compressor for 10 years as opposed to the usual 4 or 5 without going to much more expensive semi-commercial units generally available.

Purchased my Maytag side by side because of its size to fit into the space for which replacing the refrigerator. WOW. Absolutely love the Maytag side by side and having only one visit where the service tech was kind enough to explain certain questions am now always a MayTag homeowner.

Extremely noisy, doesn't maintain proper temp

Even after 3 tech visits the refrigerator and freezer still doesn't keep proper temp. Freezing eggs, sour cream, breads or the opposite not keeping food cold enough, same situation with freezer. Thus far we lost over $ 500. worth of prepared meals and groceries. The noise is the equivalent of having an old clunky construction truck running in the room.

I bought this refrigerator and had nothing but problems with it. It lasted 4 years and I had to replace the ice machine mechanism 5 times and take out ice bucket and smash the ice up more times than I can count. It™€™s pretty sad the appliance repair knew me by first name and would say™€¦what this time when I would call ðŸ˜". The whole compressor finally took a crap on year 4! Definitely a money pit and waste of money! My 20 yr old garage fridge was more dependable!!

Issues with cooling

Maytag defect 11/14/2025

Came defective. Within the past 3 years 2 different techs came out to check why fridge was not getting cold. 1st tech did not do a thorough job in finding the reason for the temperature to change automatically. 2nd tech found out that a part was missing from the freezer. After installing the missing part so far no more issues. This fridge was purchased during covid. Available appliances were limited in stores as well as online. I dont think the fridge was inspected before shipping to the store. In the beginning the fridge would get warm but get cold again. As time pasted it got worse. There was a lot of water thqy would be in the fridge. The freezer was working ok.

My experience so far has been incredible. With the exception of my microwave, all my appliances are Maytag. They have never been serviced & have had them since 2002. Only my refrigerator was replaced in 2023. I would like to have them looked at now and my dryer cleaned but I do not know where to get a Serviceman who could look at them all and cannot afford 4 separate service calls.

Had the refrigerator for about 2 months. It puts off a load noise when the compressor cones on. (I am assuming it is the compressor). I tried to level it and it still is noisy. Also the doors will sting open when it is opened. Looked up on line to solve it and it did not work. They should swing to a closing position when let go of. I tried to call service and was on hold for 2 hours. I hung up. Wont buy a Maytag product again.

I bought this 3 months ago and then the compressor failed. I contacted Maytag to replace or refund the product but they said they can only repair which is taking too long time. We lost so much food and out of refrigerator for the pat two weeks. It takes another two for repair people to get the part and then repair. Maytag is not willing to pay the compensation for the lost product. I am very much frustrated with this product and advise anyone not to buy products from Maytag at all
